The MINI owners from nemini.org had a tent at Lime Rock, right at the apex of the newly repaved West Bend corner for this event, the race day being Monday, Sept. 1, Labor Day. We had over 100 MINIs come and join us, including several classic Minis, and the group enjoyed a few rather slow parade laps during the lunch break.
Many thanks go to James Lamdin of MINI of Manhattan for organizing this event! Here is the Austin Healey 100M that dominated it’s race, the quickest of the Mini Coopers, driven by Larry Holloway of New Jersey, and a very fast Covette driven by another friend of mine from Minis, years ago, Tony Carpanzano, who was the first person to win a race at the new Thunderbolt race track in Millville, NJ. And, let us not forget another friend, from Austin Healeys, Michael Oritt, driving his 1958 Elva Courier.
