1969 Mini Cooper S, Mk II

Mk II, after restoration

Here is “Big Blue”, fresh back from a Mini Meet in Atlanta, Georgia.
This was not my first Mini, but the one I owned the longest, and the only one I did a complete restoration of myself. As you can see, it had no front bumper brackets, and plenty of modifications, including a screeming 1275 S motor with a Weber carburator and gobs of power, big “Fortech” flares that everyone was using in racing in those days, giving it the wide-body look. It was right-hand drive, with Recaro seats and a custom interior with a wooden dash and plenty of instruments. It brought home numerous trophies both in autocrossing and concours shows.
